Highlights
Samsung Galaxy A05 is delivered with a few sensible upgrades compared to its predecessor Galaxy A04. A vast relief is its design. It is now looking like an appropriate smartphone to use for 2024. V-notch from the older models is gone and is replaced with a U-shaped notch that looks more tasteful and modernized. The backside has that clean minimalistic look with a vertical linear pattern. The bezel at the bottom front side looks smaller, and the screen is a bigger 6.7-inch one. We can say that we are finally satisfied with a lower budget Samsung mobile design after a fairly long time. The body is made of polycarbonate, but you’ll notice a glossy finish to it. There is no official splash resistance, and that is a clear drawback.
The 6.7” screen has no protection, such as a Gorilla Glass. It is presented with an HD+ resolution and PLS TFT technology. Despite having no Full HD resolution, it gives a reasonably pleasing viewing experience. However, there is no 90Hz refresh rate and you have to be content with the standard 60Hz option. We have seen photo samples from the 50 MP camera at the backside and they were pleasing with natural, vivid color tones, decent clarity and details. In the video section, we have a 60fps recording facility for 1080p resolution. The 8 MP selfie taker is adequate and should be of your liking too.
A MediaTek Helio G85 chipset is rocking its performance. It has 4 GB and 6 GB RAM options. If you want lag-free gaming, you must pick the 6 GB model. For the 4 GB variant, you’ll notice lag and starters. The phone runs on OneUI 5.1 version on top of Android 13 and is expected to receive Android 14 update in 2024. The software is one of its strongest sides. Battery backup and charging are also favorable (5000 mAh, 25 watt combination). A surprising fact is that there is no fingerprint sensor in this device at all. A noise cancellation microphone isn’t added as well, which are some of its downsides. But the official pricing of this phone is in no way justifiable. Thus, we do not recommend this device to official phone buyers.
